After installation ready, AA Mail Server is already a Intranet Email Server. You can immediately create virtual domains and add accounts for your staff. Intranet/LAN Email Server is a good solution for workgroup communication, such as public notice, file transfer, document distribute and issue discussion.
One of major difference between Internet email server and Intranet email server is whether users have permission to send out outgoing mails and receive external incoming mails.
AA Mail Server provides domain-level and account-level permission control for you.
You can create a domain with both outgoing and incoming not allowed, and then all users of this domain can only send/receive local emails, which means from accounts on the same server. Also you can specify some users individual Internet permission whether they have outgoing and incoming Internet access right.
How to install as Internet or Intranet Email Server
If you want to build a standard Internet mail server, please apply an Internet domain from your ISP and set MX record of the domain to your server. You can ask help from your ISP to complete this preparation.  Detect my domain MX online.
Step 1. Download the latest version of AA Mail Server and then run setup program. Usually you only need to click "Next" button one by one until installation finished. Learn details about installation.
Step 2. Run AA Mail Server. When Windows firewall asks you to block/unblock, choose unblock to allow AA Mail Server has access to network communication. If your server is behind a router, remember to set port forward 25/110 from router to your server.
Step 3. After startup, click "Settings -> Domain settings" menu item to create your domains, choose "Standard server mode" on domain type.
- As Internet Email Server
If you want to build Internet mail server, input the Internet domain you applied from ISP. Click "Settings -> Diagnose MX" menu item and you can detect your domain MX record has been set correct or not.
- As Intranet/LAN Email Server
If you want to build a LAN email server, cancel checkboxes of "Allow outgoing" and "Allow incoming". There are same checkboxes in Account dialog, so you can specify Internet mail access right for each user.
Then you can create accounts for your staff in AA Mail Server. Also your staff can apply new accounts through Webmail by themselves.
